On Thursday, April 3rd, members of our leadership team joined fellow advocates at the Arizona State Capitol to represent our community during a legislative hearing focused on the $122 million supplemental funding request aimed at stabilizing Arizona’s developmental disabilities (DD) system.
This critical funding would support essential services such as job coaching, day training, and transportation—services that directly impact the individuals we serve daily. House Bill 2945, introduced on April 7, proposes to address the shortfall by reallocating funds from various sources, including the Arizona Competes Fund, the Housing Trust Fund, and the Prescription Drug Rebate Fund. However, the bill also includes provisions that may affect service delivery, such as capping the Parents as Paid Caregivers (PPCG) program’s weekly hours. Additionally, it seeks to increase legislative oversight of Medicaid waiver processes.
