Dear STARS Friends and Families,
Due to the continuing spread of the COVID-19 virus, STARS youth & adult day treatment and work center programs will be suspended, effective today Tuesday, March 24. This action follows last week’s suspension of STARS community-based employment enclaves, and is necessary to safeguard the health of our participants, our employees and their families.
It is time for STARS to join with others in our community and throughout Arizona to stop the spread of this evil virus. Beginning today, our Osborn and Cholla campuses will be closed until it has been determined by authorities that it is safe to return to work. Transportation services are suspended until further notice.
Since the news of the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the U.S., our compassionate and dedicated employees have followed the guidance of the CDC: improving hygiene, disinfecting common areas, classrooms and work areas, conforming to the new social-distancing guidelines, and staying home when sick.
We sincerely appreciate your encouragement and continued support as we navigate the challenging weeks ahead. Continue to visit our website for updates about the future resumption of programs and services.
In the meantime, help spread the word – not the virus!
Join STARS in taking extra precautions to safeguard your health,
David Henderson, President & CEO
Please Note: It’s important that each of us take precautions for safeguarding our health and the health of others, as the virus will not go away any time soon. Here are some helpful steps provided by the CDC for preventing illness:
- Frequently wash hands with soap & water for at least 20 seconds
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose & mouth with unwashed hands
- Maintain a safe distance from others who may be infected
- Refrain from physical contact (e.g. handshakes, hugs) with anyone who is sick
- Cover nose & mouth when sneezing and coughing
- Stay home if you are sick and consult a physician if your illness persists
