Community-Based Employment Support Program

Achieving maximum integration & inclusion in the community through employment.

Explore Community-Based Employment Support (CBE), a comprehensive initiative with two distinct programs providing support for members throughout their employment journey. The Independent Employment Support (ISE) program offers extensive assistance during the first year, with an option for a second-year extension. Seamlessly transitioning from ISE, participants enter the Employment Support Aid (ESA) program, which delivers ongoing support without a predetermined end date. This smooth progression empowers STARS participants to develop positive work-related habits, attitudes, skills, and etiquette tailored to their specific employment needs.

Many participants seamlessly enroll in these programs upon completing the CIE program, ensuring they receive sustained support as they navigate the next phase of their employment journey. This transition is a pivotal step toward continued growth and success.

Guiding this journey are STARS’ dedicated Job Coaches, who play a vital role in establishing and sustaining workplace accommodations for members. Beyond maintaining employment goals, Job Coaches actively support members in achieving full integration into workforce culture. Serving as liaisons between members, managers, and their support systems, these coaches excel in communication, advocacy, customer support, socialization, time management, and promoting self-advocacy. The result is a holistic and successful employment experience for every individual.

Success Story

“They help me talk to my managers. If there is anything wrong, my job coach is there. They are there if I have any questions.”
– Justin B., ESA Participant

“Through all the change over the years, STARS has always made it important for Justin to know his job coach. Even with a weekly phone call so that Justin is more comfortable, and they get to know him personally. So, when there is an issue that arises at work, he feels stable going to the job coach for help.”
- Charlyce B., Justin’s Mother
